Laura Cooley is the Technology Transfer Specialist for the Northwest Addiction Technology Transfer Center (NWATTC), part of the National Network of Addiction Technology Transfer Centers. She is the primary point of contact for training activities in Alaska and Washington State at the NWATTC.

Laura comes to NWATTC with considerable experience working on opioid education, continuing medical education, and global health. For over 6 years, she co-directed a continuing medical education program at the University of Washington focused on educating health care providers about managing pain and addressing opioid prescribing through the COPE for Chronic Pain CME training program. The COPE program was based at the UW Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences, and involved partners from Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU), U. California-Davis, and several regional medical associations across the U.S.

Laura’s experience includes more than 20 years in public health, with a focus on strategic communications, health training, project management, and program coordination. She has worked as a researcher at the Smithsonian Institution's Wilson Center and as a research associate in the sociology departments of Uppsala University in Sweden and Essex University in the U.K.

Other experience includes 10 years at the World Bank, with her last job there as Health Specialist in the Global HIV/AIDS Program. She also worked for the international non-profit organization PATH, and the University of Washington's I-TECH (International Training & Educational Center on Health), on health programs in Ethiopia, Indonesia, and Cote d’Ivoire. Laura is excited to be a part of the NWATTC network and welcomes new partners to join in the collective effort.

When not working Laura enjoys traveling, walking, yoga, and exploring culinary adventures.
